Skeletal Structure

Skull

StormCats have a cat-like skull, though compared with the skull of a cheetah looks very different. The StormCat skull is large in size.

They have exceptionally large brains, giving them the intelligence equivalent to a human teenager.

They have large fully colored forward facing eyes, most have binocular vision, or can see clearly in the dark, or under water, some can even see Ultra Violet light. It all depending on adaptations and environment.

The skull also has large nasil cavities that give StormCats an acute sense of smell. Able to detect and even identify a human from miles away.

Teeth

The jaws have a total of thirty eight (38) teeth, with four long sharp canine teeth in front for biting large chunks of flesh. They have a set of cone shaped teeth behind the canines for holding on to slippery prey. There is also a set of flat incisor teeth in back for chewing. Some individuals may possess a set of saber teeth suited for more carnivorous diets.

Horns and adornments

Some StormCats may sport horns on their head, these horns can vary in size and shape depending greatly on the function and environment. Large elaborate horns may be used for display, to warn off threats or for fighting. Larger thicker  horns require larger muscles in the neck for support and to move the whole head easily.

Skeleton

StormCats have a big cat-like skeletal system that resembles that of a cheetah. The bones are large but exceptionally light and strong. Unlike their cheetah counterparts, StormCats have a "closed rib cage" of twenty four (24) rib bones connected by a sternum bone like in humans. The rib cage is deep and protects the large heart and lungs.

The spine is extremely flexible and can curve so much that the back feet can move in front of the forefeet.

The tail is also very long and extremely flexible, it keeps a StormCat balanced and is mainly used as a rudder for making tight turns while running or swimming, but can also be used as a fifth limb for grabbing objects. It is longer than the body.

StormCats are the only cat-like species who have a total of five phalanges (fingers & toes)

on all four paws, and hand-like front paws, this includes thumbs like on humans and primates. This is one of the key features that sets the StormCats apart from the feline kingdom entirely.
